Course Description

            This course familiarizes students with the graphical-user operating environment. Basic and advanced functions of Windows are demonstrated. Student do laboratory assignments to utilize the basic operating functions of Windows such as file handling, fonts, graphics, icons, sound and multi-media.

Work with files and folders

Change the desktop background, mouse pointers, screen saver

Unlock, move, hide, and resize the taskbar

Pinning programs to and unpinning programs from the taskbar

Use the Address toolbar to display folder content and search the Internet

Change folder options and restore default folder options

View system information and hardware properties

Explain account privileges and view account information

View and change the date, time, and time zone

Understand advanced searching techniques

Search for a file by specifying properties

Search for media files using specialized properties

 

Advanced Windows

Open and work with Windows Live Photo Gallery

Create and burn a DVD using Windows DVD Maker

Open and work with Windows Media Player

Launch Windows Live Movie Maker

Add and edit video items in the storyboard

Preview and save a project

Publish a movie onto your computer, the Web, or an optical disc

Define wire/wireless network components

Work with a home network, wireless security

Do system backup/restore

Run a system/disk cleanup, disk defragmenter

Generate a system status report
